Donate to help Tommy Torok on his recovery

On October 13, 2022, Tommy Torok was involved in a life-altering crash.

Fortunately, he had his seatbelt on, protecting him from many injuries.

Sadly though, due to a high-speed impact, his C-5 vertebrae shattered, sending bone fragments into his spinal cord. As rescue workers extricated him from the car, he had no feeling in his lower extremities and had lost fine motor skills in his arms and hands.

Tommy has been in ICU since the day of the crash at Broward Health Medical Center. As of November 10th, he still feels no lower extremities. Tommy has slightly improved his fine motor skills in his upper extremities. He is still on a ventilator trying to strengthen his lungs and diaphragm so he can hopefully breathe on his own again.

Tommy will be going to Shepherds Center in Atlanta, Georgia, for his spinal cord rehabilitation. We anticipate that he will be heading there in about three weeks. Health insurance will assist with some of the cost of his care, but it does not help pay for travel for his parents out of state. They must be by his side every step of the way to aid in his recovery and help him transition into his new reality. In the future, Tommy will need assistance in making modifications to the house to make it wheelchair accessible and a home health assistant long-term. Tommy faces many unknown challenges in the future, and your donations will help him overcome them.

We are asking for any help you can provide in offsetting these costs to make Tommy’s transition from ICU hospital bed to whatever will be his new regular in a wheelchair as easy and seamless as possible.
