Help Tony and Carmine Get Back on Track
Donation protected
When it rains, it pours. Literally and figuratively for this family.
This morning, Tuesday November 5th, Tony (19) and Carmine (18) were on their way to work before daylight. Today would have been Tony’s first day as he just moved back with his family from out of state a week ago. Just a few miles from their house, every mother’s worst fears happened - the boys’ car was swept off the road in flash flooding.
Tony said that as soon as the car started going under water he and his brother quickly climbed out of the car and he started yelling for his brother, who he had lost sight of. Once they found each other, they swam to a tree close by. Tony told his brother to take off his shoes and tie them to the tree as a marker so they could find where they were in the rushing waters.
For 2.5 hours they struggled to swim and stay above the flood waters, fishing logs and debris smacking into them. By the absolute Grace of God, these young men survived.
Unfortunately, they lost their only vehicle that got them to and from work, all their work tools, Carmine’s phone, and many of Tony’s clothes from the move. They only had liability insurance. We are hoping to raise enough money to help the boys buy another vehicle so that they can continue to work and help their mother. Any help at all is so appreciated.
All funds will go to Tony and Carmine's mother, Charity Todd, who will distribute the funds to them outside of GoFundMe.
I’m including a photo of their shoes in the tree so you can see how high the water was - we got this photo hours later when the water started receding.
