Hello, my name is La Tosha. I am not just a daughter, mother, and grandmother, but also someone who finds joy in various hobbies and interests. My family holds the utmost importance in my heart and they mean the world to me.

Early last month, I received the daunting news that I have been diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. As if that wasn't enough, I was also informed yesterday that it may have spread to my right lung. This journey started back in June when I first experienced symptoms and there was little cause for concern. My situation was under-diagnosed and it wasn't until months after my journey began that treatment for a seemingly benign tumor began. It was after my surgery that further exploration discovered the cancer.

Since June, I have been on leave from work under short-term disability, receiving only 60% of my salary. The financial burden has become overwhelming, especially with the added expenses of healthcare benefits and the inability to withdraw from my 401(k) due to being on short-term disability.

Initially, I had plans to return to work on December 11th, unaware of the severity of my health condition. However, if the biopsy confirms metastasis in my lung, it is highly likely that I will require chemotherapy and further treatments. This could result in an extended absence from work, adding even more challenges, such as potential job loss and loss of health insurance. I understand that dealing with these issues simultaneously can be overwhelming, but I am doing my best to focus on one thing at a time.

At this moment, I am reaching out for your support to help me cover my insurance premiums, housing costs and food. By the end of the year, I hope to have made arrangements to withdraw funds from my 401(k) to meet future costs.

My family has been very supportive and I have utilized all available resources to cover the gap in my income . I must emphasize that making this request for support is not an easy task for me. While I may know quite a few people and have connections, my circle remains small. Situations like mine force you to reflect on the time wasted on trivial matters instead of building meaningful relationships with those who truly love you. It is disheartening to feel isolated and alone during such challenging times.
