Hi, my name is Jasmyn and on May 16th around 9:30AM, my boyfriend and I were driving home when I lost control of my vehicle going 73mph and it went crashing into the sidewalk & into the tree. My car has already been having issues so this may have been a cause of the crash. We quickly rolled out of the car and ambulance were on the way. I felt as if my leg had a charley horse when we crashed because my hip muscles were so tight, but after my boyfriend and I got examined they let me know that my hip was dislocated in the crash. My boyfriend snapped his femur in half, and half of his face is scratched up, and unrecognizable. They preformed same day surgery on Jahleonard as his injuries were worse than mine. He has a metal rod in his leg, and can’t walk for 6 months or more. They popped my hip back into place, but found out that when my socket came out of place, a bone broke & i’m fractured as well, they hadn’t known about these injuries when they first popped my hip back into place. I was then told i’d be going into surgery to get the bone out and stabilize it with plates and screws. My surgery was done on 5/18 and went well. I can’t walk for at least 2 months, and eventually will have to replace my hip again in the future once I begin to hurt and limp. Our surgeries alone without medical bills cost will be around $70,000 as my ORIF hip surgery ranges from $13,000 to $40,000, and his Femur surgery ranges from $17,000 to $35,000. We are so thankful to be alive and would appreciate any donations as we unfortunately do not have insurance. We are still currently hospitalized and should be discharged with equipment that they are providing, as we both did our physical therapy.
