My name is Diana and I'm putting together this page to try and help out my Sister-in-Law Valerie Sadovsky, my brother Alex, and my niece Payton. As a family they have always had a passion for traveling, staying active, and cherishing moments with their
loved ones.

Unfortunately, in November 2021, just a few months after purchasing their home in Florida, Valerie contracted Covid-19, which has resulted in severe long-term health complications affecting her heart and lungs. In May 2022, she received an official diagnosis of Pulmonary Hypertension, a serious medical condition where the blood vessels leading from the heart to the lungs become congested with clotting material building excessive pressure. This condition severely stresses the right side of the heart, making it less efficient in pumping blood and oxygen throughout the body.

Since falling ill, Valerie has endured more than 15 hospital stays, amounting to over 120 days in total. Her treatment for Pulmonary Hypertension requires costly monthly medications, a 24/7 IV infusion pump, oxygen machine, at-
home nursing care, and frequent visits to specialized doctors.

The multiple hospital stays have also led Valerie to develop multiple severe pressure sores, which have now progressed into a bone infection known as Osteomyelitis. As a result of these infections Valerie required back surgery to remove the hardware that had been placed around her spine after her spinal cord injury in 1997. Ongoing treatment of the infections involves administering IV antibiotics and constant dressing changes. However, progress has been slow, and months have passed without significant improvement. Valerie has been on and off antibiotics for bone and blood infections for over 14 months.
Their insurance only partially covers the cost of her medications, leaving the family with substantial out-of-pocket expenses adding up to hundreds of dollars each month.
Due to her medical condition, Valerie has been unable to work for over 2 years. Alex eventually lost his job in April of 2023 due to all the time he spent caring for Valerie. The mounting medical bills have become an overwhelming burden for the family, creating an extremely challenging situation for them. They had to file for bankruptcy, are in the process of selling their home in Florida and moved back to Illinois to be closer to family as Valerie requires round the clock care.
Valerie, Alex and Payton moved to Illinois in August, and it took 4 months for Alex to find a job.
Now Valerie will need to get a power wheelchair to get around as she is no longer able to push a manual one. In addition to the chair, Alex and Valerie will need to purchase a wheelchair accessible van for her to be able to go places in the power chair.
The local hospital is not able to provide proper medical care, so Valerie must travel to St Louis, which is 2 hours away from where they live now, to see her Pulmonologist, internal medicine specialists, and specialized wound care.
This is why I decided to create a GoFundMe page for Valerie and Alex to try and help alleviate some of the stress and
financial burden they are currently dealing with. We kindly request your support and prayers for Valerie, Alex, and Payton during this trying time. Your assistance would allow them to focus their energy on Valerie's journey to recovery and a better quality of life. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and any support you can offer.
