Donate to Help Wendy McCarthy from Hurricane Ian

Hi! I am Shauna Davis. I live in Ponte Vedra Beach. I am close to the McCarthy family. I have known them for 36 years. They are a family of 6 kids who grew up on Ft. Myers Beach, and everyone was welcomed at their house. Wendy was still living in her childhood home on Fort Myers Beach up until Hurricane Ian wreaked havoc on September 28, 2022.

As you may know, Hurricane Ian's strong winds, torrential rain and storm surge decimated Fort Myers beach, including Wendy's home, which contained a lifetime of possessions and unsalvageable memories. Hurricane Ian's storm surge and strong winds caused houses next to Wendy's to collide into the back of her home, causing catastrophic damage. The surge also gutted the entire first floor, washing away all her possessions, including her car. Her home is now inaccessible and unliveable.

Can you imagine waking up and not having your home to return to with your dog, Roo? You no longer have your normal routine of coming home from work, walking your dog around your neighborhood, and letting your furry best friend sunbathe on her favorite front porch. You can't drive anywhere because your car was blown into a building and flooded. Your home is also your neighborhood, friends, restaurants, and the people that make up your community. Everything is destroyed and unrecognizable on Ft. Myers Beach.

With Hurricane Ian's aftermath, Wendy McCarthy is now displaced as so many are on Fort Myers Beach.

Wendy is a staple on Fort Myers Beach. From her golf course days, telling at Bank of America in Santini Plaza to the Beach Theater and presently at Gulfview, Wendy is embedded in the Fort Myers Beach community. Wendy has introduced many tourists to this beach community that many now call a second home.

We need to lift her back up with our money. No amount is too small.
