Marine's Parents-JJ Warner & Betty Hayes Need Van!

Donation protected
Many of you know our family and my daughter Megan. Megan married a Marine, Damian Hayes and is now stationed in NC at Camp Lejeune. Many of us have had a life that has been a struggle and his parents exemplify that struggle. They are both wheelchair bound, his mom with Cerebral Palsy from birth and his dad from a bad car accident at age 9 that left him paralyzed from the waist down. JJ and Betty have done an amazing job at raising Damian into a very responsible and upstanding Marine. Damian has helped his parents out several times in the past, but currently has chronic headaches that he's trying to figure out the cause of. Also, with him in the Marines, he cannot get home very often to help them out anymore. JJ was able to go to college and has several degrees. He has worked off and on during the years to help take care of the family, but many companies won't hire him because of his health conditions. Currently, his health conditions have worsened, and with no way to get to the doctor, there are limited options for their health. Disability stinks. Another problem with working is the fact that if they make above a certain amount, they lose their medical, their wheelchair repairs, and many other things that they need to survive. Anyone that knows JJ, knows how hard he works to maintain most things, but right now, they are in dire need of a mobility van. Their current van has a slipping transmission, flat tires, no power steering, a broken ramp and handicapped door, and many other things that they can't afford to fix. He has hand controls and can drive the van, but whether he can or whether he should are two different stories. Most of you know my husband can fix almost everything (mechanic and machinist) and he has tried to work on it. There's only so much that can be done before you have to call it quits. We have access to a reasonably priced (very good price) used mobility van from a relative and hope to get the funds to purchase that for him. They are also in need of help with their house, so if any extra funds are raised, that would go to that project. If anyone would know of any organizations that we can refer them to, to help out with that, we would be very grateful. We wish Extreme Makeover would be still going, they would be prime candidates for that, too. Thanks again, and please, please, keep the negative comments and criticisms to yourself. This is an upstanding family that has done their personal best and really could use uplifting and help right now, and every little bit helps.
