If you have been on vacation and returned to SNMC recently, you wouldn't know that the SNMC board chose to dismiss Imam Zijad Delic suddenly, and without any notice to the community (as of January 23, 2024). I guess they were thinking nobody would notice a missing pillar of the SNMC community. Ya, I don't know what they were thinking either.

Reminds me of the thought experiment "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"

I guess we could pretend Zijad was never there since the days of praying at Jockvale school, but it would sure get awkward trying to have a discussion about SNMC without bringing up his name. I'm already awkward enough, I don't need more awkward in my life.

All I know, I just want to see Imam Zijad at the mosque again.

To keep it short, this fundraiser is to help Imam Zijad deal with his affairs in the immediate term. I would also love nothing more than to see this support the effort to restore him as the Imam of SNMC. If you are already donating to SNMC, I urge you to consider supporting this cause directly, at least until circumstances change.

First time I set up something like this, if I have any control of the funds I will be releasing it to the Imam with full discretion for him to spend as he sees fit.

On a personal level, I'm not appealing to the world, I'm appealing to the people of Barrhaven first and foremost. You have seen with your eyes and experienced Zijad's character first hand for many years. We benefit the most from his presence. And it would be nice for my kids to have a Sheikh they think is cool too!

I hope our community endures and comes out stronger through this hardship.
