On Friday, September 2nd Ivon noticed something fall past her kitchen window and went outside to investigate. She found that the house she had rented for over ten years was on fire, and there was no time to waste. She ran to her truck to flee but realized she had the wrong keys in her hand. After a brief attempt to re-enter her house to get the right keys, she realized it was already ablaze.
The entire neighborhood was a smoking, fiery inferno. In Ivon's confusion, she attempted to save her neighbor's dog, who was chained outside and whimpering in fear, but again to no avail. The smoke was getting the best of her, and she took off on foot, trying to escape the carnage. But it was too much for her. She collapsed in the street, contemplating dying right there on the ground.
However, before she lost consciousness, emergency responders arrived to fight the fire. They noticed Ivon, collected her off the street, and prepared to fight the fire. However, they quickly became overwhelmed by the enormity of the situation and determined to evacuate and regroup before being surrounded.
Unknown to Ivon, the fire had started at the neighboring Mill just a couple hundred yards from her doorstep. In the frantic moments of fleeing for her life, Ivon left every possession she had behind when she ran. Not only family photos, personal records, furniture and her clothes, but her cell phone, daily medication, purse, and sadly her cat. She lost everything she had except the clothes on her back.
I am starting this Go Fund Me to assist my mother in trying to put some pieces of her life back together. This devastating blow to her life is the second she has received this year. Ivon's life partner was recently in a horrible automobile accident and, due to his advanced age and kidney problems, was not
expected to recover from his multiple injuries. Tragically, Clarence died Sunday morning, less than three days after his neighborhood burned to the ground.
This tragic turn of events has left Ivon alone and penniless. She has spent several years taking care of Clarence's declining health, including numerous doctor visits, dialysis, and medications. Ivon has lost her house and life partner; without your help, she will lose all hope of recovering from these devastating disasters.
Please help Ivon out of this terrible plight.
