Help Janice Arciniaga Coats Fight ALS: Support Her Medical Journey

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support for an incredible woman, Janice Arciniaga Coats, who is facing one of the toughest battles of her life. Recently, Janice was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). This devastating illness has already begun to impact her ability to move and speak, but it will never touch her spirit or determination.

In 2018, Janice was a chaperone on a trip to Hawaii with her son's school, Katella High School in Anaheim, California. While there she had a fall and was severely injured and ended up in the hospital. She was unaware at the time, but what happened was she experienced "drop foot condition," which caused the fall. As her balance and falling issues got worse, every time she went to the doctor they told her it was all in her head and there was nothing wrong with her. It was not until this past July 2024, that the doctors finally diagnosed her as having ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease . Currently there is no cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease and at this point we are trying to make sure that Janice is comfortable, and her family has the help that they need in order to care for her while she endures this very painful journey.

Janice is a loving mother, wife, cousin, aunt, sister and friend who has always been there for others. She is known for her infectious laugh, warm smile, positive outlook, and unwavering strength, even in the face of adversity. Now, it is our turn to be there for her. As you may know, ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually robbing a person of their ability to walk, talk, eat, and breathe. There is currently no cure, and the cost of care can be overwhelming.

Why We Need Your Help:

We are raising funds to help cover the significant medical costs that are not covered by insurance. This includes:

- A wheelchair-accessible vehicle to ensure Janice can still travel to appointments and spend precious moments with her loved ones.

- Essential medical equipment and home modifications to make daily life safer and more comfortable.

- Additional therapy and treatments that can help slow the progression of the disease.

- Ongoing expenses for caregiving, medications, and other out-of-pocket costs that her family will need to bear.
