My name is Edgar Lain. John was my boss at Nerd United. He is an exceptional human being.

On Friday, Aug 2, John Howard experienced a sudden pain in his chest that led him to call his own ambulance. He calmly told his kids what he was about to do and he waited on his front porch for the ambulance to arrive. We are told that this timely decision saved his life. Within the hour, he was in a Cath lab and discovered the emergency was much bigger than imagined. John underwent emergency open heart surgery that replaced part of his aorta, restoring blood flow that was being cut off to his heart and abdominal organs. We are so grateful for the "coincidences" that morning that put John in the right hands at the right time.

John is currently a single dad of 4 kids, (Afton, Lennon, Jensen, and Dagan) in the midst of employment furloughs, and struggling to make ends meet. We are trying to help with funds for rent, medical bills, and life necessities as he starts his recovery journey. He is still in ICU, cracking dad jokes and puns, and making the nurses smile.

Your kindness will make a profound impact in the coming months for this family and the struggles John and his children will be up against.
