Help John and Stacey as they navigate John's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Our good friend John Lindsey was diagnosed with rectal cancer on June 14th, the day after school let out. It took two months to get appointments with all the necessary doctors to talk about the different treatment optioins.
John had Lower Anterior Resection surgery on September 25th. The surgery went well. The surgeon was able to get the whole tumor out with good margins, he also removed 22 lymph nodes that were sent in for testing. The lymph nodes came back as negative for cancer which was great news, but the cancer was at stage 2 with some small tendrils that were reaching into the vascular system. So the Virginia Mason Cancer Board recommended that John do 3 months of chemotherapy to make sure that no cancer cells were able to move into his vascular system.
John starts his chemotherapy on October 22nd in Omak. Treatment will be once every two weeks for 3 months.
John and his wife Stacey have been taking the cancer journey as a team one day a time. John is continuing his teaching as he is able through this fall, there will likely be a point at which chemo will take him out of the classroom.
John and Stacey continue to run their small business, Sweetgrass Restoration throughout this whole process as best as they can. Appointments, surgeries, and treatment has taken them both away from their business throughout the summer and fall, having an impact on their financial capacity and earnings.
As we know John and Stacey, they give so much to this community! Any amount you can give to help our friends the enthusiastic high school teacher, librarian technician, restoration ecologist, photographer extraordinaire, wildlife and habitat lovers, horticulturalist and gardeners, business owners, dedicated volunteers and thoughtful listeners... would super appreciated.
Thank you!
