Donate to Jose Varela's Memorial and Aid His Son

My name is Jessica Varela. I am writing on behalf of my brother, Jose Varela, who 4 months ago suffered a fire accident in his home and was then residing with our mom. Early Tuesday morning, at around 2:20 am, I woke up from an explosion sound. I live right next to my mother's house. Writing this now is bringing me back to the moment I realized the flames from the back of my house. I knew it was my mother's home on fire. I jumped up to call the police, running out and looking back, telling the firefighters that my brother was inside trapped. Minutes passed... until I saw them pulling him out unresponsive. That night has become the longest day of our lives. My brother, my parents' son, fought to be saved, to come back, but sadly... God's plan was different. He was pronounced dead on April 9, 2025, at 8:45 pm.

Those who were lucky to have him in their life are heartbroken, shattered, in disbelief. It's hard to picture such a joyful soul being gone in a horrible tragedy. His ridiculously loud laugh will live with us forever. All he would say is, "MA! MA! MA!" And my mom would be like, "What!!?" ... he would giggle and laugh and say, "No, nothing." He was a jokester.

He touched so many lives... we cry of happiness to see how much he was loved and to hear how many lives he changed, how many people he made laugh... he was an unapologetic clown and he will forever be missed and remembered.

He did not just leave his parents and myself, but he left a 16-year-old son, Joseph Miguel Varela, who is mourning the death of his father who loved him endlessly.
