This is Kandace Mead. Many of you know her from her work at Island Dentistry. Perhaps your memory goes deeper to Nadelstein’s or even Dr. Post, who was above Dr. Finkelstein's office or you may have been served by her at the Black Dog in the 70s.

The point I am making is that my mother is a part of this island. Her hands have held your hands, calmed your children, and made them laugh.

In the past few weeks, she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The doctors are extremely optimistic about her recovery, but she will need a mastectomy. Like most families, we are faced with the unfortunate reality of finances. My mother is the sole earner, as my father does not work. She is incredibly nervous about not being able to work. If you can give anything to help this woman, who has spent her life giving small kindnesses, we would be forever grateful.
