Karla, her mom Laura and sister Viri have been like family to us for almost 20 years. Their family has been through so much and is in need of some help. Karla received word this morning that a kidney donor has been found! Amazing news that came MUCH sooner than she anticipated...and she needs a little help! Please read her story below and help if you feel led to do so!
Hi,
My name is Karla Garrido, and I want to thank you for taking the time to read my story. I was born in Mexico City and have lived in Dallas, TX, for the past 32 years. I am a mother, sister, and daughter, and I am reaching out for your support.
For the past 15 years (since the age of 17), I have been living with kidney failure. The doctors discovered that my kidneys had stopped growing at a young age, and, despite extensive testing, they could not determine the cause. For the past five years, I have been on daily dialysis; a process that means I am hooked up to a machine for 8 hours every day. This morning, however, I received exciting news: a match has been found for a kidney transplant.
With this transplant, I have a chance to get off dialysis, regain my health, and truly get my life back. And for the first time in my 14-year-old son's life, he will have a mom that is not dealing with the daily challenges of kidney failure. The road to recovery will include extensive care and medication. The medication and the surgery itself will be extremely costly. In order to move forward with the transplant, I have to raise $10,000. Your generous donations will help cover these expenses and support my journey towards a full recovery. I will finally be able to be the mother, wife, sister and daughter that I have dreamt of being for the past 15 years!
Any contribution is deeply appreciated, no matter the size! Your support means more to me and my family than words can express! I am so grateful for this gift from God to get my life back! And so very grateful to each of you for helping me on this road to recovery!
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Warm regards,
Karla Garrido
