Donate to Keep Schuylkill's Fire Boxes Functional

Some may recall on 02/22/2024, there was a cellular outage that affected over 70,000 cell phone customers. Then, on 09/30/2024, over 100,000 customers lost cell phone service. There have been 911 center outages where calls to 911 failed. Not many people still have a landline and rely solely on their cell phone to make and receive calls. What happens when there is an emergency during an outage? What happens when you have an emergency and you have no access to a phone? In a recent case, a person fleeing a dangerous situation had no other option but to pull a nearby firebox to summon help. And it worked!

The fire box system is a service many communities are no longer using due to costs and maintenance. There are still fully functional systems in place in Schuylkill County. But this system is aging and needs maintenance. There is no funding for this. This account was set up for the sole purpose of raising funds that will go toward repairs and maintenance of this system.
