Donate to Keep William Nichols Warm

Homelessness is a huge problem in our country, and it’s closer to home than you may realize. William Nichols, a family friend and fellow Spartan, has been struggling through the brutal realities of this epidemic for the past 3 years. He is a hardworking, resourceful young man who has been working relentlessly to keep himself afloat. He utilizes all of the available resources, is always looking for work, and does it all with a positive outlook. I am asking for help this holiday season, because he would never ask. With the freezing temperatures this winter, sleeping in a tent each night could quite literally be a death sentence.

I know the apprehension that comes with giving money to a homeless person on the street. Are they using it for drugs/alcohol? How will this actually help?

William is the kindest, purest soul you will ever meet. To be frank, he is not on drugs. He just needs help. The money he makes is used for transportation to work, food to sustain him, the occasional motel room, etc. He has been hustling for 3 years now; it is a hard life, and I have not once heard him complain or ask, “Why me?”

My family and others have been working closely with him to try and find permanent housing. This spring, the boarding house he worked so hard to get a spot in, burned down while he was sleeping inside. He was lucky to escape with his life. Most nights, Will is sleeping in a tent in the woods, with little protection from the environment. Together, as a community, we can help find him a safe place to stay for this winter season. I am asking, please, whatever you can give, it would be more than appreciated.
