Kim's Journey: Beating Cancer Together

Donation protected
This is my sister Kim! She's a long-distance runner, a rising Taekwondo star, a single mother, and she's been successfully battling cancer since June. She needs our help! Defeating cancer is one thing; defeating the bills is another.

Our goal is to raise $18,000 to help her with medical bills, lost wages, and travel expenses to support her in bringing this battle to a close.

Her story started back in late spring, just before her 40th birthday, when Kim found a lump in her armpit. Tests soon revealed it to be Stage 3B, Triple-Negative Breast Cancer. The lump was in her lymphoid, which had metastasized from a less obvious one in her breast. The cancer realization alone felt disastrous for a single mother who's already working two jobs to make ends meet. By the grace of God, last week, Kim finally rang the victory bell, marking her final chemo treatment!

Although the chemotherapy journey is almost over, she’s not at the end of the treatment road yet. Next will be surgery and after that, 6 weeks of radiation therapy. The schedule for this was a bit of a shock!

The medical staff told her to "look at this as a daily errand." An errand that’s easier said than done when it involves a 2-hour round trip! The drive time will soon be cutting into her work hours, which of course she needs to pay everyday bills. Meanwhile, the growing pile of medical bills is becoming an additional, serious concern.

Kim is incredibly tough. She's an amazing role model for her 8-year-old daughter, Zoey, showing her every day what it means to be a strong woman with a strong work ethic. Her dual careers in early education and assisted living reflect her character; one rooted in service to others.

She hasn't asked for help, but we know she needs it. This is why we're reaching out on her behalf, to you and to this community. In the same spirit Kim shows to those she serves, we're hoping to help take care of her now. Thank you in advance for any donation you can make. We'll be sure to let her know you're thinking of her and keeping her in your prayers. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this GoFundMe page on your social media or telling a friend about Kim’s fight.

Finally, we want to say to Kim, we know you're reading this. We're so incredibly proud of you. Your courage in facing cancer, while barely missing a beat in your running schedule, reminds us how strong you truly are. You're going to cross this finish line, and if we can help a little along the way, we're going to do exactly that!
