If you've found your way to this fundraiser through the recent social media storm around my hometown bakery Confections (@sugarcookieart) and their rainbow cookie celebrating "inclusivity", WELCOME! The cookie intended to celebrate PRIDE Month caused cancelled orders, local backlash AND THEN overwhelming support from the community.
Many of the comments I've seen online were asking for organizations supporting LGBTQ+ causes, in and around Lufkin TX, where they could either donate or show support online. The answer is Lufkin High School Club Diversity!
LHS Club Diversity's goal is to promote acceptance and inclusion by being a visible support for those that feel marginalized or need a place of belonging. The club aims to provide activities, projects, and scholarships for our members at Lufkin High School.
As the daughter of the LHS teacher who was a founding sponsor of Club Diversity and also an Alumni of Lufkin High School myself, I was shocked by the lack of support the Club receives and that it was almost unknown to the community.
The reason I'm hosting this donation page is to raise awareness of LHS Club Diversity, in East Texas and far reaches of the web, as the exposure brought to Lufkin via these cute Rainbow Cookies brought an outpouring of support and I'm hoping that support will extend to Club Diversity and support its goal of creating a college scholarship fund.
Frankly, when people put their $ where their mouth is- Great things happen!
