This spring, I will be touring a few US cities with poetry readings, workshops, and craft talks, in order to promote my new collection, MANNEQUIN IN THE NUDE (PANK Books, 2019).
I am looking for folks to support and invest in my art as I crowdsource a bit of funding to offset my travel costs. Any donations would go a long way in supporting a young queer African who is trying to further his craft in flourishing and non-threatening spaces. With your help, I am hoping to make it from Nigeria to Oregon, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Chicago, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Minneapolis in the spring.
During the tour, I will be co-editing two major poetry anthologies: THE IMPOSSIBLE BEAST: POEMS OF QUEER EROTICISM (Damaged Goods Press, 2020) and THE NEW NIGERIAN POETS (Indolent Books, 2020). In addition to these, I am the Associate Director at Dovesong Labs, a digital/live hub of creative and literary education featuring workshops, reading series, teaching materials and more writing resources.
Please know that I am ceaselessly working with my own connections & skills to make this happen, although I have learned asking for help is as important as needing it.
I am hoping to make it out of Nigeria in late March, and with your help, I hope to have raised $5000 by March 1st. I would be endlessly grateful if you could help me cross this bridge into the next part of my life.
Thank you!
