Luis Perez's Healing and Hope

Hello everyone,

My name is Lia Joo, and I am reaching out today to share a heartfelt story about a colleague and friend, Luis Perez. Luis and I met through work, and I’ve had the privilege of witnessing his dedication and hard work firsthand. Recently, Luis has faced a dire and unexpected crisis: he was critically injured in a tragic carbon monoxide poisoning accident at his home in Vineyard.

Thankfully, through the incredible efforts of the medical staff and Luis's own determination, he has pulled through. You can read more about the incident in the attached news link. Despite his progress, Luis now confronts an overwhelming challenge—an avalanche of medical bills. On top of that, his family is deeply concerned for his mental health, especially as another loved one, who was also affected by the incident, was taken off life support yesterday, 8/11/2024.

Luis is grappling with an immense burden of guilt and worry, which is only compounded by his financial strain. He needs our support to focus on his recovery and to access the treatment and therapy he requires to heal both physically and emotionally.

I am creating this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial pressures on Luis and his family, allowing him to concentrate on getting better. Your support, whether big or small, can make a significant difference in his journey to recovery.

Update: Luis has a Doctor's appointment Monday, 8/26, due to his respiratory problems. He has major difficulties breathing. Funds are being used to cover his continuing treatment due to the damage to his lungs.

The donations made through our GoFundMe campaign will be managed by Yanira Alonso. Yanira is the partner of Alex, who is Luis's brother. Alex and Luis do not have bank accounts that meet GoFundMe's requirements for managing funds directly. Therefore, Yanira will be handling the funds on their behalf. This arrangement ensures that the donations are managed effectively and in accordance with GoFundMe's guidelines.
