Donate to Luke's Eagle Scout Project for AEDs

Donation protected
My name is Luke Pasley-Smith, I am 16 years old, and a Boy Scout in Troop 79, based out of Glenmoore, PA. I am currently beginning work on my Eagle Scout project, which is to raise the required funding to buy and install two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in my local township, one of which will be placed at Wagenseller Park, and the other will be placed at the Wallace Township building. Both of these locations currently lack a functioning AED, and following the recent renovations at Wagenseller Park, designed to draw more people into the township, it is extremely important to ensure a functioning AED is available should the need arise.

I am hoping to raise around $4500 in order to purchase both AEDs along with the proper weatherproof box required for the AED at Wagonseller Park. At the park, the AED will be stored in a location that is extremely accessible but still is in a position to be protected from weather. I also plan on organizing an AED and CPR training class through Westwood Ambulance in order to ensure everyone in our troop has at least a baseline understanding of how to use the AED.
AEDs are extremely simple to use and hold the ability to save a person's life through the application of an electrical shock to the heart (if the machine determines that is the correct course of action). Below I have listed some additional facts about AEDs and cardiac incidents.

> The AED will analyze the heart rhythm before delivering the shock. If it finds the heart is still beating, no shock will be delivered.
> It is extremely important to deliver early defibrillation, as odds of survival significantly decrease each minute after a cardiac event.
> For each minute that defibrillation efforts are delayed, the chance of survival is estimated to reduce by 10%.
> When someone suffers a sudden cardiac arrest, it is important to remember that you can’t hurt someone in cardiac arrest by delivering CPR, you can only help them.
In the past year, 436,000 Americans died of cardiac arrest.
> More than 350,000 cardiac arrests take place outside of a hospital each year. In places outside of a hospital, it is extremely important to immediately have someone dial 911, and another person begin delivering CPR.
> Quick intervention during a sudden cardiac truly can make a difference. Click on the link below for an example of how the rapid use of CPR and the application of an AED was able to save a member of our neighboring fire company in February of 2022. https://www.ebfc49.org/apps/public/news/newsView.cfm?News_ID=1234&Print=1

Any donations will be greatly appreciated and will be put towards the goal of purchasing the two AEDs, helping to make our community safer. Thanks in advance for both supporting my goal of making the township safer and also for supporting me in completing my Eagle Scout project.
