Sweet Olivia was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and has had 3 open heart surgeries and multiple other procedures but always knew ultimately she'd need a heart transplant. At the first of June this year, just after she turned 12, she was told it was time for a transplant. She was officially listed on the transplant registry July 31 and was told it would likely be a couple of years. A miracle happened and she got the call that they had a heart for her on August 20. Her surgery was August 21 and everything went great! She recovered very well and was able to come home quickly. Just before Thanksgiving she developed a fever and was admitted to the hospital on November 30. After some testing, it was shown that she had developed a rare complication, PTLD (Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder), a type of lymphoma. She's been in the hospital since November 30 as they work towards getting her well enough to come home. She will have 18 weeks of treatment.
We are raising money to help with all of the medical bills they will have and travel back and forth to the hospital for treatments each week once she is released.
Olivia is a bright light! She always has the biggest infectious smile with the cutest dimples ever! Her family has gone through so much in Olivia's 12 years and we would love to help ease the financial stress medical costs can have.
