Olivia Merritt's Medical and Rehab Fund

Olivia's Story:

On January 12, my 20 year old niece Olivia Merritt was involved in a devastating ski accident that changed her life in an instant. She suffered a traumatic brain injury, and multiple fractures including pelvic, jaw and facial bones. Olivia has already endured immense pain and challenges, but her journey to recovery is just beginning. As her family, we are reaching out to you for support during this critical time.

After the accident, Olivia was rushed to UMass Medical, where she has received life-saving care. In addition to her injuries, Olivia is a Type 1 Diabetic, which complicates her treatment and recovery. She will require multiple surgeries, ongoing care, and intensive rehabilitation to regain her strength and rebuild her life.

Why We Need Your Help:

Her parents, Chris and René, are doing everything they can to be by Olivia’s side. René, a nurse who works per-diem, has had to take time off to support her daughter and be by her side. René, does not have benefits or sick time. Chris, who works as a consultant, does not have full time benefits. The family has a transitional insurance, which unfortunately will not cover all of Olivia's medical expenses or rehabilitation needs.

The emotional and financial strain on this family is overwhelming. Between hospital bills, rehabilitation costs, and lost income, the financial burden is far greater than they can handle alone.
