Save Sugars Bridge Farm: Preserving Agricultural Heritage & Children's Education

Our Story
Sugars Bridge Farm stands as a testament to Chester County's rich agricultural heritage. Since 1790, this 15-acre historic property has been a cornerstone of our community, and since 2021, it has transformed into a vibrant educational center under the stewardship of Sharlene McKinley Bund. Today, this cherished institution faces an unprecedented challenge that threatens its very existence.

The Heart of Our Community
Our farm is more than just land—it's a living classroom where:

Over 300 local families annually send their children to Camp Barnyard for immersive agricultural experiences

Children ages 6-12 develop lasting connections with nature, animals, and sustainable farming practices

A diverse collection of animals, including alpacas, a llama, chickens, and ducks, find their forever home

Traditional farm-to-fashion practices continue through our alpaca fiber program

Local youth gain meaningful employment as camp counselors and staff
The Challenge

We face an urgent situation: the farm's co-owner seeks to redirect the property's use, which would eliminate Camp Barnyard and its vital programs. This change would not only affect the 300+ families who rely on our summer programs but would also impact:

The future of agricultural education in Chester County
Employment opportunities for our dedicated staff
The welfare of our resident animals
The preservation of historic farmland

Our Solution
With your support, we can:
Purchase the co-owner's share of the property
Cover essential legal fees to secure the transaction
Protect this historic property from development
Ensure the continuation of Camp Barnyard
Preserve this vital educational resource for future generations
