Donate to Provide Critical Aid to Refugees in NKY
Tax deductible
Kentucky Refugee Ministries has supported refugees and other immigrants in Kentucky for the past 35 years, connecting them with critical support services on their path to self-sufficiency in Covington, Lexington, and Louisville. In the past 3 months, we have welcomed 42 refugees to Northern Kentucky including 18 in January.
The refugee clients we serve arrive in the United States with nothing except the promise of help from the US government and cautious optimism for a safe future. However, on day one of the new presidential administration, the US Refugee Admission Program was suspended and the funding to support refugees was frozen. Travel was also indefinitely canceled for the over 10,000 refugees vetted and approved to come to the United States by the Department of Homeland Security.
Make no mistake, these executive orders are harming thousands of refugees this country pledged to protect. The funding freeze is an abandonment by the federal government of the thousands of refugees already admitted to the United States, including our allies fleeing for their lives from the Taliban and Russian aggression. These are hundreds of families who should be united in safety that are now painfully divided by country, continent, and circumstance.
The government’s violation of their contractual obligation means that to continue providing services and support, we need your help.
Donate to our Refugee Emergency Support Fund today to bridge the gap created by these cruel executive actions. All funds will be disbursed directly to KRM-Covington clients in our region.
Any amount can help a refugee family abandoned by the federal government, though here are examples of how different levels of giving can support refugees:
$90 covers educational supplies for refugee youth
$150 sponsors transportation costs for a month
$200 provides food for a week
$425 furnishes a refugee family’s home
$3,000 sponsors a refugee’s rent and utilities for 2 months
Join us as we work to transform newcomers into neighbors.
