Donate to Rachel's Medical and Family Expenses

My beautiful sister, Rachel, was in a terrible accident on August 10th, 2024. Rachel was on her way to buy diapers for her 2-year-old when she was T-boned by a large truck going at least 50 mph. She was immediately airlifted to Wakemed. She was rushed into surgery with internal bleeding, a broken jaw, spleen laceration, and a fractured pelvis. She is currently on a ventilator which will help her rest for the next few days. She will go back into surgery soon. Things are touch and go.

Maverick, her 2-year-old, was in the car with her at the time of the accident, but walked away with very minimal injuries.

She has 2 other children at home.

Update from my mama. 8/20/24

This is literally the most up and down emotional rollercoaster and it is so hard to keep hope, but in a weird way, so easy. We are getting set back after set back. But, We will never give up on Rachel no matter what and just continue to pray!

Today around 11:30 Rachel was extubated. She was unable to slow her breathing and relax. She had some emesis and possibly aspirated. They had to immediately sedate her and intubate her again. This is certainly not the outcome we had prayed for. She was mouthing words to me earlier this morning and I was so excited to have the chance to communicate with her again. The next 24-48 hours are crucial. They will do daily chest X-rays to see if she has aspiration pneumonia. They have talked to us about putting in a tracheotomy if she does not come off the vent soon. These past 10 days have been so challenging. We are still very hopeful but disappointed in today’s outcome. We still are trusting in the Lord and fervently praying for her healing. Please continue to pray for Rachel, our family and especially her children. They miss their mommy so much. The older ones were hoping to FaceTime her tonight and they are unaware of her condition. I am staying by her side nearly every minute and staying in the Heart Center Inn. We have been blessed by our wonderful friends, family and surrounding communities. Keep those prayers going!
