Flash floods, high winds and heavy rain brought by a series of storms have devastated eastern Afghanistan, killed at least 40 people and causing widespread destruction. The hardest-hit area has been in and around Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar province. Initial reports estimate over 100,000 people have been displaced, with entire villages submerged, crops destroyed, and essential infrastructure like roads and water wells heavily damaged.

Society to Empower People (STEP), a registered 501(C)(3) nonprofit based in Virginia dedicated to supporting Afghan communities, is launching this emergency GoFundMe campaign to provide critical assistance to those affected by this disaster.
