Donate to Relocate Charon from Isolation

Hello!

My name is Cissy and I am raising funds to help Charon move out of Ferndale, Ca. to Germantown. Maryland. There current situation is deeply concerning; there is a current risk of abuse and potential weaponization of disability by the landlord to the point where Charon has been in near total isolation since covid began. They lost all access to transportation for things like medical visits and groceries. There is no public transportation available and the person that originally was their “anytime, anything” ride because they like driving (their landlord), has given them exactly six rides for anything since February of 2020.

Charon hasn’t been able to leave their home since February of this year. They hasn’t spoken to another human in person since April. Charon currently only get groceries via Amazon and only dry goods as they are outside the delivery range for anything perishable. Charon's landlord regularly sabotages their food shipments by reorganizing things so they can't find their food anymore.

Charon is a wheelchair user, epileptic, chronic spoonie, and neurodivergent person that is in a very isolated area which makes it incredible difficult to have any form of independence. It is a catch-22 circumstance for medical transportation where the paratransit service needs a physical report from a doctor to be able to give them rides, but Charon need the paratransit service to get to the doctor to have the physical. As such, Charon hasn't been to see a doctor in person since November 2019. They have had to go off of multiple medications because they cannot access getting bloodwork done. As a result, due to the abusive nature of their situation, Charon's health has been deteriorating significantly.

I haven’t been able to leave my home since February of this year. I haven’t spoken to another human in person since April. I can currently only get groceries via Amazon and only dry goods as I am outside the delivery range for anything perishable. My landlord regularly sabotages my food shipments by reorganizing things so I can’t find my food anymore.

I am aware that this is a sizeable target amount to raise and we’re hoping to try and make it happen beginning of next year. The destination is a shared home with some other disabled friends so we can pool resources and assistance.

The funds we need is to cover a moving container, transportation to and from (plane, car rental, and train), plus moving supplies (vehicle and boxes). We are hoping to get this completed and ready for the coming year. The bulk of the money needed is for transportation because Charon lives in a very remote and difficult to reach town, which makes most convenient moving options not available.
