Urgent: Support Housing Repairs and Cohousing Community for Navajo Families

The Bennett Freeze Act, a 40-year ban on development, has left a devastating legacy in the Navajo Nation. Multiple generations have been affected, with many still living in hazardous conditions. Today, we're seeking $3,000,000 to address the critical housing needs of elderly, disabled, and Native families. 

 The Crisis:

•  Over 3,000 homes remain unfinished, prone to fires, and plagued by mold issues. 
  
• Many families lack access to basic necessities like bathrooms and electricity. 
  
• Hazardous living conditions have become the norm, putting entire families at risk of illness and disease. 
  

Our Solution:

 Your donation will directly support: 

 1. Home Repairs :Fixing leaking roofs, broken doors and windows, and faulty flooring, stoves, and heat sources in existing homes. 

2. New Home Construction : Building safe and healthy homes for families in need. 

3. Cohousing Community Development :Creating a community model that preserves cultural traditions, includes shared outside spaces, a community center for cultural enrichment and education, and ceremonial grounds for healing and prayer. 

 This innovative model will be replicable throughout the Navajo Nation, empowering each chapter to build and maintain their own communities. Our goal is to not only provide housing but also economic opportunities for young people to learn skilled trades.
