Donate to SAFE ZONE Camp: A Haven from Gun Violence

My name is Trinika Walker, a single mother who buried my 17-year-old son, William Davis, and my 3-year-old grandson, A’kai Stilo, due to gun violence. Milwaukee has become a dark place for my family and many others, more and more each day. Gun violence has taken over our city, seemingly being the norm for us all.

In 2023, I started the SAFE ZONE SUMMER CAMP! Creating activities in the park where our children could continue to play safely. Activities included basketball, skating, book clubs, birding, fishing, and cleanups, also engaging with local neighbors and friends to help make this all possible.

Thanks to Milwaukee County Parks Sprouts Funds, we were able to run a successful 6-week program for 35 youth boys and girls, which the youth loved. Today, as I’ve watched the news, I realized the shootings and killings hadn’t stopped, and I believe my efforts of safe play shouldn’t stop.

This summer 2025, our summer camp needs your help with donations of any size.
