Second Chance Sammy: Donate to Save a Dog's Life

Donation protected

On Sunday, September 8th, and amazing girl named Randi found a severely injured dog. She was kind enough to sit with the dog and not leave him/her alone for dead, and I contacted my dad, who is a huge animal lover, letting him know. When my dad met Randi to assess the situation, he was lifeless and covered in red ants, and completely broken. He took him to an emergency vet, and he has a broken front right leg, shattered jaw, and x-rays. The medical expenses are astronomical, and my dad wants to help before they euthanize him because of incoming medical bills since no one has claimed ownership of this dog.

Please donate anything you can to help save this dog! The total of medical bills is going to be upward of $6k+ and we just don't have the ability to do that. But we want to save this dog. :(

update: They’re going to keep him overnight for two nights and then Tuesday they’re pulling a tooth out that is broken and try to reconstruct his jaw. He has a severely shattered jaw, full body puncture wounds from dog fighting and attacks, and needs surgery on his broken front right leg.

Sept 9:
❤️❤️UPDATE ON SAMMY❤️❤️
I heard from Sammy’s doctor this morning. He has ringworm but is doing better. He will still get that surgery tomorrow on his jaw, including the extraction of a broken tooth. He is on antibiotics and being treated for the ringworm. He is receiving IV fluids. He did eat some soft food. Sammy and I want to thank everyone for your prayers and for those that donated on his gofundme page. All donations are going to his care; and future care.

UPDATE SEPT 10...PRAYERS ARE NEEDED
Sammy is taking a little bit of a turn for the worst. He has a lot of swelling in his head. He might have to be transferred to the hospital in Gainesville. He is trying to fight off his infection from his wound and prayers are really needed. He was tossed strongly from a vehicle by his arm which caused shoulder dislocation, plus the arm is broken and he has been so badly abused that his body is trying so hard to stay strong. He is on IV.

photos from today, Sept 10: the swelling has shut his left eye. The ICU in Gainesville is postponing surgery until the swelling goes down so we can decrease the chance of him going sepsis/organ failure while under anesthesia.

update 9/11
Sammy is getting a CAT scan today around 3 pm, they're going to try to do it with sedation...they might have to do it with anesthesia and there's a risk to that with his condition. He is a university of Florida Gainesville vet. They're trying to raise his blood pressure now to prepare for the CAT scan. Thank you and we are not giving up!!

all the receipts of what's paid so far! The estimate as of today Sept 11 is $12,000. Yes, it is high... Ivs, X-rays, surgery deposits and surgeries, blood transfusions, drains, CAT scans, strong antibiotics. This is what we have chosen to do to keep him alive and get him the best chance at another shot at life. He has been through SO much physically, mentally, emotionally ... the least we can do is show him his life matters and be his voice and show him that love is out there and he deserves it!!

It's been an emotional time but on Thursday, September 12th around noon, Sammy took his last breath. My parents, Patty and Peter, were fortunately there with him. He looked at my dad as my dad told him he loved him and that he would fight for him and animal cruelty, as he crossed the rainbow bridge. We're absolutely broken. His infection was too much, his kidneys were failing, he had no blood pressure, and he was in pain. God wanted him to have peace instead of pain, and so Sammy went. The total medical bill came to a little over $11,000 and we appreciate the donations because without them we couldn't do it alone. I stopped the go fund me as soon as he passed because it didn't feel right to collect with him gone, so my dad self funded the rest. It came to a point no amount could take the pain away for Sammy and now the pain away for us. For everyone asking about business opportunities, that was never our intention. We don't want to capitalize on this. We want to SPREAD AWARENESS of animal cruelty and share Sammy's story and help other animals and dogs like Sammy out there. WE are THEIR voices and THEIR advocates. We will continue fighting against animal cruelty and brutality forever. And please PLEASE don't forget Sammy. Help an animal when you can. Thank you.

Any remaining donations to Sammy's case will be going to help stop animal cruelty and neglect in Marion County. We have a town hall meeting hosted by the World Equestrian Center that is coming up in the next couple of weeks (either 9/30, 10/1 or 10/2) and will keep you posted on that, as we would love to have as much support as possible.

UPDATE! 8k of the gofundme went to Sammy's medical bills (my dad Peter Fletcher paid remaining 3-4k). We have pledged 2k of our own money as a reward for anyone who can lead us to Sammy's breeder, abuser, the fighting ring operators, anything. He did not have a microchip otherwise we would've pressed charges right away. We have gotten a few good leads on where he might've came from and since this others have stepped up to pledge to raise the reward since people are worried. YOU WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS. You also have the option to sign an NDA so that your name will not be released for exposing who did this to Sammy. PLEASE call or text me [phone redacted] or email me [email redacted]
Thank you! Below is from autopsy we got back Sept 20 that confirms all wounds were consistent with dog fighting, and with missing teeth he was a bait dog.
