More information about DKMS FOUNDATION: We are dedicated to the fight against blood cancer and blood disorders. Our mission is to provide a matching donor for every blood cancer patient in need of a blood stem cell donation.

To make this happen we raise awareness, recruit and retain potential blood stem cell donors to provide a second chance of life, raise funds to match donor registration costs, and improve blood cancer therapies by our own research.

CHANGE OF DATE: now October 2024 (date has had to be moved as the run has ended up being too close to my Dads transplant and I may have to be the donor- so I’m living a risk free isolated life to keep well for the next two weeks!)

In October, myself and a group of friends will be taking part in the 5k inflatable obstacle course to raise money and awareness for DKMS.

On the 17th November my Dad was diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer- Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and quickly started chemotherapy. Two days ago we were told that due to three high risk mutations in the cancer he is at higher risk and needs a stem cell transplant to survive. Currently on the worldwide stem cell register- there is no match for my Dad.

Please, please also consider joining the register. It’s just online registration and a swab of your cheek, sent back in the post! If you match with my Dad or someone else battling blood cancer it’s just like giving blood.
