Save Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is under threat. The city is pushing forward with drastic changes that will forever alter the charm and accessibility of our beloved beach community—without a plan, without input, and without a clear purpose. They are fencing in visitor parking, pouring concrete and asphalt over gardens and green spaces, and altering the unique charm of the beach while ignoring the voices of the residents who call this place home.

We are taking legal action to stop these unnecessary and harmful developments. Our emergency injunction to halt fence construction was unsuccessful despite our strong case, but we will continue to fight for what we know is right. The city is fighting back hard, deploying a team of lawyers to push their agenda forward at all costs. We need your help to stand up to them.

Why This Matters

This fight isn’t just about us—it’s about all of Crescent Beach and the future of our community. It's for not just the residents, but also the many visitors who come throughout the year to enjoy this unique and beautiful seaside village. The city is working hard to destroy this beauty, and has repeatedly failed to communicate its plans to the residents, disregarding the Crescent Beach Property Owners Association and the people who live here. They are moving forward like bullies, refusing to explain why they are destroying the character of this historic and cherished neighbourhood. If we don’t act now, Crescent Beach could lose its unique charm forever.

Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal fees to fight this battle. Here’s how we plan to use the funds:

• Step 1: Injunction to Stop Work on Bayview Street – The purpose of the injunction was to compel the city to stop fence construction immediately, setting the stage for broader legal action. Unfortunately we were not successful with the emergency injunction despite what we know to be a strong argument.

• Step 2: Proving the City’s Violations – We will take legal action to prove that the city has mislead the community with disingenuous communications, including the very inaccurate survey that justified the "railway safety fence" along Bayview and Maple Streets. This project reinforces our belief that the city has not been lawfully following their Official Community Plan.

• Step 3: Protecting Our Future – Winning this case will set a legal precedent, allowing all Crescent Beach residents to challenge unlawful city actions, seek reversals, and fight for the protection of our homes, community, and public spaces.

We can’t do this alone. The city is ignoring the residents as they hide behind lawyers, using its deep pockets to steamroll over the community, hoping we won’t have the resources to fight back. But together we can stand up for Crescent Beach.
