Donate to Save Matilda Jane: A Beloved French Bulldog

Allow me to introduce you to Matilda Jane, a one year old French Bulldog who has stolen the hearts of many… that old saying to know her is to love her definitely rings true for Matilda. She’s always been a healthy girl but she had a rough start to life weighing only 1.5 lbs at 8 weeks but has seemed to thrive until she went in for a normal everyday procedure and now she (and her family) need some help. Matilda was taken in to the vet yesterday to be spayed but big complications arose when for unknown reasons, Matilda started vomiting almost as soon as they got her under. She aspirated and actually DIED right there on that table. Thankfully she had an incredible team of doctors and veterinary staff who were able to act quick and bring her back with the Heimlich maneuver and CPR. Unfortunately, her story doesn’t end there as she had other complications and had to be rushed to the Iowa State animal Hospital last night at Iowa State University. Matilda‘s family was told that once a dog dies, and is brought back by CPR, that they will often die again and that the next few days are critical. They explained that they go through a series of symptoms prior to the second death including secretions, vomiting, diarrhea, and eventually organ failure. Matilda had already experienced half of those symptoms as of late last night. They were told they weren’t sure that she would even make it through the night… but they received an update this morning that she DID make it through the night and that her vitals were stable… but she was far from out of the woods yet. She has a NG Tube in and is sedated but that is allowing her time to heal and get better. She has a long recovery ahead of her most likely and her mama already had to pay $6,000 for her care yesterday alone. There is no telling how long she will have to stay at Iowa State but for anyone who has pets, you know how quickly those bills add up. Matilda Jane needs your help!
