Urgent Help Needed
My name is Constance Mims, and I'm reaching out today to ask for your help during an unimaginably challenging time for our family.
Recently, my husband, Matthew Mims Jr., went for what we thought was a routine cataract pre-operation test. Our world was turned upside down when we were told he needed open-heart triple bypass surgery. But that wasn’t the end of our devastating news. Further tests revealed that both of his carotid arteries were severely blocked—100% on one side and 95% on the other. Unfortunately, surgery was not an option due to a large mass found in his lung, which was later diagnosed as stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor gave us the heartbreaking news that Matthew might have only six weeks to live.
Despite the dire situation, Matthew’s cardiologist bravely placed five stents in his heart, a risky but necessary procedure. While the cancer has advanced further than we hoped, it remains centralized to his chest and airways, meaning there’s still hope. The doctors have assured us that with aggressive treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy, the cancer could potentially be cured. However, we have months of intensive treatments ahead.
This situation has left our family in an incredibly difficult financial position. With my husband retired and me as the sole breadwinner, we were managing our mortgage, business, and household expenses. However, I am now unable to work due to the numerous medical appointments Matthew requires daily. Our income has drastically reduced, and social security alone cannot cover even half of our bills. We are at risk of losing our home, our business, and everything we've worked so hard for.
I am humbly asking for your support to help us raise $50,000 to cover our mortgage, business overhead, and essential living expenses during these next few critical months. Every dollar raised will go directly toward ensuring that we can focus on Matthew's recovery without the added stress of financial insecurity.
Your generosity will not only help keep a roof over our heads but will also allow us to maintain the business that supports our livelihood. We are in a battle for Matthew’s life, and your support will provide us with the stability we need to get through this incredibly challenging time.
Please consider donating to our campaign and sharing our story with your network. Your kindness, whether in the form of a donation or a share, means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers.
With gratitude,
Courtney and Matthew Mims Jr.
