Donate to Save Nisse After Pitbull Attack

Donation protected
We are raising funds to pay for Nisse's surgery after a brutal, unprovoked attack by an American Pitbull in Centennial Park, Lawrence, Kansas, March 29th.

My name is Karolina, and I was with my husband, and our dog Nisse in the park. Nisse is a seven year old, 25 lb, Tibetan Terrier with the kindest temperament.

Me and Nisse (on leash, standing still) was watching my husband play disc golf, when a blue pitbull came rushing out of the woods, 50 yards away. I could see that its eyes were set on Nisse. We were in an open field, with nowhere to hide. I had nothing to defend ourselves with. The pitbull rushed up to us and immediately attached Nisse's belly and hind legs, like he was a prey – like a little rabbit. Eventually, the owner came and forced the pitbull's jaws open. It took several minutes, and there was a lot of blood. My husband was bit too. We called the police, and rushed to the closest pet hospital, 40 minutes away. I thought Nisse would die from blood loss in the car.

24 hours have now passed, and Nisse is still alive. We have authorized an abdominal exploratory surgery, since the pitbull's teeth penetrated Nisse skin and muscular tissue, into his belly. He has severe skin trauma on a large part of his body. We hope he will survive. Currently, we have spent $9,673 for the treatment this far. This will increase even more, as Nisse – if he survives surgery – will need after-treatment.

We have not been able to identify the owner, or the dog – it is still out there. We are looking into how to push the city of Lawrence to take responsibility, to prevent this from happening to more dogs and people. However, this might take some time.

We appreciate any financial aid, and prayers for our beloved Nisse.
