Oliver was living outdoors as a stray, getting food where he could and avoiding people as much as possible. His health began to decline, he became very thin, to the point his hip bones were visible, and his fur was falling out. I fed him wet and dry food every day hoping he would gain weight, and lured him closer with squeeze pouch treats until I was able to pet him and gain his trust. He showed no signs of improvement so I contacted FURR (Feline Urgent Rescue & Rehab) for help.
Terry, the founder of FURR, was able to trap him with the intent of getting him neutered and get some shots and basic medical care. She recognized that he had greater needs, and just so happened to already be neutered, and took him to a trusted vet.
Oliver has diabetes and needs twice-daily insulin injections. The vet provided testing, shots, deworming, and flea/tic treatments among other things. Oliver’s medical bills have now surpassed the $1,000 mark and Terry has generously covered them all, as well as food and litter while I foster him and work on getting his blood sugar managed. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, FURR relies on donations from the public in order to continue to help injured, feral, and abandoned cats in her area.
Please consider donating to this incredible organization and help Oliver, and hundreds of cats just like him. All donations are tax-deductible and any amount helps.
