We are Deborah and Kristin ( Mother and Daughter ). Kristin is on Permanent Disability as she has had a debilitating and rare autoimmune disorder for a good portion of her life, that has gotten worse over time. I Deborah, have lived with my Daughter for a couple of years to be of support to her in anyway I can. During this time I have worked gig work that has required using my car 100% of the time. It provided both the income and flexibility to help my Daughter in her time of need, which has been most important.
Not too long ago we found ourselves in a difficult life event beyond our control. We were renting an apartment and shortly after we moved in, we discovered it was infested with roaches and mice. This increased the difficulties on my Daughter's autoimmune system. We could not get the Landlord/Management company to effectively adhere to correcting the issue. After months of trying to get the issues corrected and even getting the county involved, the apartment management retaliated, and in the end we ended up homeless (living in hotels.)
My car was also wrecked on that same property due to the Management's refusal to provide us with Disability parking accommodations. They were legally required to do so as we provided all of the appropriate forms and documentation. Kristin has been deemed legally disabled since 2014. I myself have intermittent spine issues.
Thereafter, I rented a car daily and there was only enough money for the hotel , car rental , and food on a day by day basis. There were many days we were terrified and in fight or flight mode.
After a year and a half and some help from a few kind souls we got blessed with a safe place to live.
But just over 2 months of being a safe living situation , my knee went out and required surgery for a total knee replacement. It took 6 months before I could get the surgery. During that time I could not work and could barely walk. So we have been unable to continue paying for a rental car and have been without a vehicle ever since.
I am in 3 months of the recovery stage, however we are behind on some money owed and we need to get transportation for work, to get to Kristin's numerous doctors appointments, grocery shopping etc., so that we can totally get back up on our feet. If we can get a vehicle we can get caught up and stable.
We have come up with some other possibilities if it turns out that this go fund me is too much to ask. As my Daughter and I have lost it all in the past 2 years, I deeply understand that many do not have it easy these days. So here are maybe some possible options :
- A reliable used car that a kind soul would like to part with.
- If someone would lend us a reliable car until we could purchase one.
- A private personal loan that we could pay as we can.
- Any other options we have not thought about.
Thank you for anything at all you are able to donate. We appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Deborah and Kristin
