Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Strangers,
We are reaching out to you to share the story of our brother, Stephen (Steve) Ficek. Steve is a loving husband to his wife, Tessa, and father to six children (one deceased), two of which are still at home. Their family has been through unimaginable challenges recently, and they need our support now more than ever.
In May of 2024, Steve received the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer. This diagnosis came just one day after what would have been his son’s 21st birthday—a bittersweet reminder of their loss. Tragically, Steve’s son, Austin, passed away in July 2023, and the family has been grappling with this profound grief while facing a new and daunting battle.
In July 2024, Steve began chemotherapy treatments to fight this aggressive illness. Unfortunately, the side effects took a toll on his body, and he has been unable to work since August 2024. Despite his relentless spirit and determination to provide for his family, he now faces a major surgery scheduled for January 2025. This surgery will leave him unable to work for an additional 3-4 months, putting an immense financial strain on Tessa, who is currently the sole provider for their family.
Despite the heartache and challenges they face, Steve and Tessa remain hopeful and resilient. However, the reality of mounting medical bills, daily living expenses, and the uncertainty of the future is overwhelming. We are setting a goal of $15,000 to help Steve and his family make it through this difficult period. Your generous contributions will go directly to covering medical expenses, household bills, and necessities for the family.
Every dollar counts, and no donation is too small. Your support will not only alleviate some financial burdens but also provide emotional strength and encouragement to Steve and Tessa during this challenging time. They are fighting but they are tired, and your kindness can help them focus on healing and being together as a family.
Please consider sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks. Together, we can create a ripple effect of compassion and support that will uplift Steve and his family during this difficult journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and generosity. Let’s rally around the Ficek family and show them they are not alone in this fight.
With gratitude,
Lynn (mother)
