Donate to Steve Squires' 1800-Mile Parkinson's Journey

Hello everyone, my name is Steve Squires and I am from Middlebury, Indiana. In 2000, I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease and was told within 10 years I would likely be in a wheelchair, not able to walk well, and my quality of life would diminish. Well, I decided to fight instead of letting this progressive neurodegenerative disease defeat me. I have found that by staying active and exercising, you can greatly slow the progression of this disease. After 25 years this July, I continue battling, not giving up, and sharing my story with others.

I have been asked to join a group of Parkinson's warriors on an epic cycling trip that happens in March/April of 2026, from Chicago, Illinois to Phoenix, Arizona. This trip will be approximately 1800+ miles that I will be covering on a trike from TerraTrike and will take around a month to complete. In the final miles, our team will merge with other teams from around the world, all combining to ride into the World Parkinson's Congress 2026 as one team. During our journey, we will be talking to many media outlets as well as others with PD to bring knowledge and awareness to everyone watching and that we encounter. This trip involves many financial aspects for which I need your assistance. Over the approximately 30 days to complete, we will stay at several AirBNBs, have expenses for support vehicle gasoline, and have to purchase groceries and water since we will be limited to what we can carry. My goal is to raise $5000 to make this trip. Any money left over will be donated to the Parkinson's Foundation and the Michael J. Fox Foundation equally 50/50. Any shortcomings, I will have to pay out of pocket.

We are documenting this trip to help motivate others with this disease along with their caretakers to NOT GIVE UP! Parkinson's can be slowed and you can still live with the disease if you are willing to fight. Your help making this trip will affect not only me but everyone that our trip encounters and who follows our journey.
