Donate to Sudden Sam - in Sam Mercer's name.

Sam Mercer passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, aged just 35. Sam was a son, brother, friend to all, and a dad to three young children.
Navigating the aftermath of Sam's sudden death was traumatic for a multitude of reasons. We did not know what to expect from one day to the next, and when already drowning in a cloud of grief, it feels impossible to survive.
We quickly realised that the service just is not there for support with a sudden death. When somebody dies suddenly, you are dealing with a whole host of emotions and trauma that aren't necessarily there with an expected death.
Sudden Sam, named after Sam, has been created to help support people through the most difficult time of their lives. Your donation would enable us to kickstart our charity and help us on our way to achieve our main objectives:
- Emotional support for those bereaved by sudden loss (1:1 counselling; small group counselling; community counselling, such as group sessions and coffee mornings)
- Financial support for those who are bereaved and their loved one did not have life insurance. We want to take the financial burden away from families, enabling them to grieve without worrying about money. Sudden Sam aims to pay for funerals or cost-match, depending on the families circumstances.
- Practical support - we will guide bereaved family members through the aftermath of a sudden death with the practicalities and process.
- Community awareness - we aim to raise awareness of sudden death and its effect on those left behind.
