* Important Update: New Fundraiser Account
Dear Supporters,
We want to inform you about an important change regarding our fundraiser. Unfortunately, due to an issue with the previous bank account linked to the fundraiser, the old GoFundMe account had to be closed. To ensure the continuation of this effort and your generous support, we’ve created a new account to manage donations securely.
We deeply appreciate your understanding and ongoing support. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for standing with us!
My name is Reham Baroud. I am Bisan’s sister. I live in Turkey. Due to her geographical location and restrictions from GoFundMe, I am stepping in to help launch this campaign. All donations will go directly to Besan and her family.
Here is Besan’s story:
Hello friends,
My name is Besan, and I am from the northern side of Gaza. Life as we knew it came crashing down after the military operation began. We were forced to evacuate to the south of Gaza, but no place here is truly safe.
On the night of October 7th, my family, along with 50 others, received a chilling phone call from an Israeli soldier: we had five minutes to leave our home. It was 11:30 p.m., during a citywide curfew. Panic set in. We grabbed what little we could—leaving behind precious belongings and even our important documents—and ran into the night. Families, pale and trembling, gathered in tears outside the building, unsure of what would come next.
Ten minutes later, a deafening explosion shattered the night. Our 12-story home, filled with memories and lives, was reduced to rubble.
This was not the first time my home had been destroyed. In 2009, it was bombed by Israeli air drones. I still remember the pain, but this time, the devastation feels endless.
We sought refuge in a nearby hospital, clinging to hope that it would be safe. For 10 long days, we endured unspeakable conditions—no water, no food, no blankets to shield us from the cold nights. Then, even that fragile hope was taken from us. Israeli warplanes bombed the hospital, leaving us to flee once again.
Now, we are in the southern part of Gaza, where life remains unbearable. Prices for basic necessities are sky-high. There is no electricity, no clean water, and even as a woman, I cannot access essentials like hygiene pads. Food is a rarity, and safety feels like a distant dream.
Imagine fleeing for your life, watching your home and everything you’ve built vanish in an instant, only to find that no place is safe. That is my reality.
But I refuse to give up. I am determined to rebuild—not just a house, but a life for my family. With your support and solidarity, we can start again.
Your contribution, no matter how small, is a lifeline for us. It brings hope back to a family that has lost so much. Together, we can rise from this tragedy and find peace.
Thank you for standing with us in our time of need.
With gratitude,
Besan
