Donate to Tess & Hannah's Race Against Blood Cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends! Tess & Hannah here- we’ve been given the opportunity to run in the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon in March, on behalf of the NMDP (Be the Match) and Delete Blood Cancers! Our goal is to raise $2000 each. Here’s a little blurb from each of us- we appreciate your support, big or small!
from Tess: 3 years ago, I was in the hospital in the middle of Covid, getting biopsies, spinal taps, and receiving 24/7 immunotherapy. My entire immune system was wiped with strong chemo and radiation, and I was given a second chance at life, thanks to the National Marrow Donor Program (Be the Match). Post bone marrow transplant, walking around the block made me physically sick. Ya girl is not a runner, but today, I’m training to run in a sweet NYC race (how cool!!), fundraising for the NMDP. I’m running to honor my donor (who I’m hopefully meeting this summer), and tbh to honor all my body’s been through and the progress I’ve made! Don’t forget to request a swab kit to get registered with the NMDP and potentially save someone’s life!
from Hannah: Most of you know that Tess received a lifesaving stem-cell transplant 3 years ago. When looking for a donor, myself and my older sister Josie were tested to see if we were close enough matches to be her donor. Unfortunately we were not, so the search for donor began. Tess matched with a complete stranger in Germany who gave her a second chance at life. Without organizations like NMDP and We Delete Blood Cancer, Tess may not have found that donor. We are so excited to support these partner organizations who mean so much to us! I personally, am extremely thankful that these organizations allowed me more time and experiences (like crossing the freaking finish line in New York with my sister who is only 3 years post transplant) with my sister! Please consider donating to help meet our fundraising goal and if you are eligible, request a swab to join the registry to save someone’s life!
