Welcome to the 3rd Annual Paul Chaney Fitness Fundraiser, supporting KC PAWS and Midwest Transplant Network. Our mission is to make a positive impact on the world in Paul's name. Every dollar raised goes directly to KC PAWS (90%) and Midwest Transplant Network (10%). Combined, our first two events raised over sixty thousand dollars, brought in numerous new benefactors, and raised awareness about KC PAWS in our community. We hope to make our our next event, on Saturday, June 22, even more impactful!

If you don't know Paul or our story, on September 12, 2022, our only child, Paul Chaney, 20 years old, was killed in a motor vehicle accident. He was driving to work on his motorcycle when a negligent driver failed to yield at a busy Ward Parkway intersection. In the wake of that loss, with a desire to build a legacy in his name, my husband and I along with Matt Karstetter and the staff of The Foundation Gyms, started The Paul Chaney Fitness Fundraiser to benefit KC PAWS, a no-kill canine rescue and sanctuary. Saturday, June 22, 2024, will be the third annual event.

I’d like to share a little about our son with you. He was an old soul. Kind and emotionally generous. To his friends, he was a fierce protector and would show up to sit with you in your darkest hour. We know this because of the countless friends who wrote letters and shared stories with us. As a personal trainer, he took pride in helping others make positive changes in their lives. Again, numerous members shared that Paul’s positive energy was a big part of their experience at The Foundation. One member approached me after the funeral and said: “You don’t know me, but your son changed my life.” Most importantly, Paul was a lifelong dog lover. When he died, he left behind Alice, the husky who owned his heart. This event is our way to honor both of them and the connection

Paul’s heart was big and he was just beginning to dream and experience his potential.

True to form, Paul designated himself as an organ donor on his driver’s license. Because of that, he continues to change lives even in death. As an organ donor, he saved 5 lives and changed countless more.

We're super excited to share what's new for the 2024 Paul Chaney Fitness Fundraiser! Together, we're working hard to make Paul proud!

What's new:

5K walk/run: In addition to the muscle-pumping fitness excitement we had last year, like Johnny Ott and a fiercely fought plank competition, we've added a 5K walk/run!
More energy and cheering: We’ve created a structured competition schedule to pump up the energy for all our fitness fans.
10% of donations go to Midwest Transplant Network because Paul was a designated organ donor. Paul save 5 lives, changed countless more and this stands as a reminder that you too can be an organ donor hero! We choose to recognize his “Hero” status by donating 10% of funds raised to Midwest Transplant Network which helped Paul's organs find their forever homes.
