Donate towards repairs to Corey Beckman's Home

Donation protected
My name is Ronda Comstock and as some of you already know, I am trying to raise funds to help with repairs to fellow Putnam City Pirate Alumni Corey Beckman's home.

Corey was diagnosed with Advanced Lung Cancer that has already spread to his stomach about 2 months ago. He has elected to try chemotherapy which can possibly buy him a little more time. Corey's son and granddaughter live with him and they mean everything to him. He has helped raise his granddaughter and she adores her Grandpa. Corey is not a rich man but he does own his home that he will be leaving to his son and granddaughter.

As with all of us there are things around the house that we know needs to be done and we think we have time to save up and take care of them. Then one day you go to the doctor thinking you might have bronchitis or pneumonia at the worst, then out of the blue the doctor tells you that you have terminal cancer and suddenly there is no more time.

A fellow Alumni, Mike Hostmeyer, very generously went out and did an estimate on the cost of all the repairs. I am asking for $7,500 (materials and most labor} which we should be able to get the repairs done. I know there have been many of you that have also very generously volunteered your time to help with the labor which, depending on how much help we get, will lower the costs.

I know things are very hard for everyone right now with the cost of everything from gas to groceries have gone up to unimaginable prices and it is Christmas, but anything you can donate will be so appreciated. Corey wants to leave this Earth knowing he is leaving the one thing of real value to his son and granddaughter, his home without a bunch of repairs that he cannot afford.

I absolutely cannot imagine what Corey is going through dealing with a terminal cancer, going through Chemo and all that does to you, having to tell his son and sweet little granddaughter that he doesn't have much time left and worrying about having to leave his house to them needing these repairs. I wish there was something we could do about those first three awful things but we can't. We can do something to help with the last and I pray you will find it in your hearts to give whatever you can. Please don't think there is any donation too small, every little bit will help.

I have always known in my heart that those of us that grew up in Oklahoma City and went to the Putnam City Schools were a special group that were raised to be kind and help anyone in anyway we can that is in need. And to everyone else I also believe in your kindness and generosity.

I know I speak for Corey in saying thank you for even considering helping and we wish you all much love and a very Happy Christmas and New Year with your families and friends.
