Shoes for children walking barefoot daily in Ghana
I’m Kerry Koranteng . My favorite quote is; “Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?' ”- Martin Luther King. This quote motivates me to serve.
I visited Ghana with my family three years ago and was heartbroken when I saw children walking barefoot most of the time because their parents or caregivers couldn't afford a pair of shoes. I learned this is an issue in most of the villages in Ghana. Imagine having to do all your errands without shoes on. This is some child’s life. These kids are exposed to so many diseases by walking in the dirt. Malaria, parasites, and worms are more prevalent among those who do not wear shoes, and the consequences can be fatal.
Some of us may take a pair of shoes for granted, but for these kids, shoes can make all the difference. Because of this, I’ve started a shoe drive called; “#I’m A Shoe Fairy” and raised 948 shoes so far.
Shipping the shoes to Ghana and transporting
them to where needed is very expensive, that’s why I need your help. Please help me bring som smiles to these children in need.
