Donations for Dan Wilson post Esophagus removal
Donation protected
The reason for this GoFundMe is to not only raise awareness of esophageal cancer, but to also inquire about donations for our father.
During Summer of 2022 my father, Dan Wilson, went in for a routine endoscopy but was shocked by the diagnosis of esophageal cancer. This led to treatment consisting anywhere of 25-65 ablations (burning of nodules in the throat) every 3-4 months. After the two year process his pet-scan has finally come back cancer free!! In order to avoid his cancer from returning, his oncologist has decided to do a total esophagectomy- completely remove his esophagus and replace it with his stomach by stretching and moving it upward. He’s going to be in the OR for the majority of the day, followed up by a stay in Coopers ICU for 1-2 weeks with a feeding tube and neck drain. He will then come home with the feeding tube for an additional 2-3 weeks, then have a liquid diet for 2-3 weeks, soft foods 2-3 weeks, then *hopefully* solid food. Unfortunately this means he will be out of work for 3 months.
Our father has always been the kind of person to give his shirt off his back to someone in need, make those laugh around him even if it’s not the time to laugh, and to never ask for help even when he needs it the most. He’s always been the hardest working man I’ve ever met in my 24 years of life. Knowing he will be incapacitated for a length of time with not much I, nor anyone, can do for him physically truly breaks our hearts. With that being said we would greatly appreciate any amount contributed.
