Single Dad of 4: Supporting Dayrel’s Kids After His Passing

Eugene Dayrel Poindexter, beloved single father of four, passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2024, at the tender age of 39. He leaves behind four young children: DJ (9), Zoe (11), Sky (12), and Shilo (14).

Anyone who knew Dayrel knows how proud he was of his kids and how much he loved them. He had been a single father since his youngest child was one year old. Until his passing, Dayrel was their sole provider, devoted to ensuring his children were happy and well cared for.

Faced with this unexpected loss, the family greatly appreciates all forms of support to help his kids continue to grow and thrive.

As we gather to celebrate his life and mourn the loss we feel in his absence, we invite you to contribute to the family’s fund for caring for DJ, Zoe, Sky, and Shilo.

Charles Slaughter, a cousin of Dayrel, is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Teresa, Dayrel’s mother. All proceeds will go directly to her to care for the children, as she is now the guardian of her four grandchildren. The impact of this tragic loss comes with a heavy financial burden, as she is on a fixed income and already caring for another grandchild.

Dayrel was a proud Portlander, dedicated to his community, and a selfless giver. Now is our opportunity to give back to the people he loved the most—his children.
