Donations for Home Fire Repair

Dear GOFUNDME,

I am writing to raise funds for my parents, James and Juanita Baker, who recently experienced a house fire on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023. Although they are safe, their home has suffered significant damage and requires sizable repairs.

My parents left their home only moments before they received a call from their neighbor, notifying them that their house was on fire. We are grateful for the help of caring neighbors and the quick response of the Fire Department who prevented the fire from spreading throughout the entire home. The cause of the fire was determined to be overheated electrical wiring.

My parents are highly respected members of their community. My mother is an active church member who sings in the choir, works in media, and anything else needed. She is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). My father is also an active church member who has taught Sunday school and has been a mentor to many. Before his injury, he was a successful contractor who employed many community members, including the youth and formerly incarcerated individuals. My parents are well-known for their kindness and generosity towards others.

Unfortunately, the home is uninsured and all repairs will be paid out of pocket. We have already started repair work by removing the charred and wet drywall, carpet, and other debris. We will use the donations to purchase materials and labor, such as replacing studs, insulation, wiring, drywall, paint, flooring, and HVAC system.
